Aromatherapy Candle Scents to Set Different Moods

Wonderful Candle Aromatherapy Scents

Burning candles adds a meditative air to a room. Many people burn candles to change the mood and atmosphere. Go one step further and use fragranced candles for aromatherapy.

All scented candles help freshen the air, but do the fragrances really have an effect for different moods? The answer is yes. Depending on what kind of mood you’d like to invoke, there are many scent groups to choose from.

Evergreen Scented Candles

Evergreen scents such as pine, spruce and eucalyptus are good for a general feeling of well being. Their refreshing scent rejuvenates and revitalizes.

Vanilla and Lavender Candles

Vanilla and lavender both invoke a feeling of calmness. Lavender is beneficial before bedtime to help induce sleep.

Mint Candles

Mint such as peppermint and spearmint are related to the mind. They can help you focus and concentrate. Their peppy scent energizes and may help alertness.

Lemon/Orange Candles

Citrus scents are lively and stress relieving at the same time. They are uplifting and bright.

Ylang-ylang Candles

This is the scent with the strangest name we’ve encountered. Apart from its name, ylang-ylang is one of our favorite. It is another relaxing and calming scent but very interesting because it is very different from the norm.

Blending Scents

Burning more than one scented candle at a time results is a blend which can be interesting and beneficial. Experiment with different combinations. Ylang-ylang with citrus can be relaxing but refreshing at the same time. Vanilla goes well with just about any scent and adds mellow undertones. Play around with combinations to find your favorites. Soy aromatherapy candles put less contaminants into the air than paraffin ones. Soy generally burns longer as well. If the higher price of soy has put you off in the past, consider giving them a try.
